Weird History Tours: The Birth of NYC
Did you know you’re 10x more likely to be bitten by a New Yorker than a shark?
New York, New York. So nice, they named it twice…But before it was New York, it was New Amsterdam. And before it was The Big Apple, it was The Big Onion…
New York City is like an outdoor museum. Every street lamp, park bench, and missing brick has a story or fun fact. For example, did you know that Grand Central is radioactive?
New York was created in what is today’s Financial District over 400 years ago. What began as a small settlement with 30 families quickly became the biggest city in America. Today, a baby is born here every 4.4 minutes. In fact, 1 out of 38 Americans is a New Yorker. Even the Empire State Building has its own zip code! (It’s 10118)
